NOTE: If this is your first time completing the Class Listing Form, please read the content in this column before you proceed. It has helpful information that can save you time and energy.
CaMarriage.com is an online clearinghouse of Marriage Education (ME) and Relationship Skills Training (RST) classes occurring throughout California.
After reading the contents below, If you still have questions regarding the Class Listing Form, email jody@camarriage.com and be as specific as possible with your inquiry.
List your ME/RST class, course, retreat, seminar or conference. It’s easy, it’s free, and it will help couples find resources they need and want.
Three simple rules:
By requesting that your ME/RST class be listed, you are certifying that:
(1) the class is open to the entire community,
(2) the course content focuses primarily on teaching couples and/or individuals skills to help their relationship and/or marriage thrive, and,
(3) the class occurs within California.
Keep in mind:
(1) Market to the Reader: List and describe the curriculum or material so readers know what your class is all about. Presume they know nothing about your course.
(2) List Class Early: As soon as you have a date and location, list your class. Classes automatically are dropped off the listing the day after their posted start date.
(3) Fully Disclose: Let people make a fully-informed decision based on accurate information about your class. Let them know how much religious content is in the class, if there is any special information, and if materials cost extra or are included in the cost of the course.
(4) Tell Them About the Kids: Childcare is the first question many couples ask when inquiring about classes. Let readers know in the class description if childcare is available, and if there is an additional cost for it.
FAQ about this form
(1) Why do you need my contact information? In case we have questions or need to clarify what you submitted. It won’t be posted publicly.
(2) What does ME/RST stand for? Marriage Education and Relationship Skills Training.
(3) What is a URL? It’s another name for “web address.”
(4) Which URL do I list under “additional program information”? This space gives you the option to provide viewers with more information about a particular ME/RST program (e.g. For 10 Great Dates), by linking them to the program developer’s site - www.marriagealive.com.
(5) Why do I need to choose a “geographic region” when my class can benefit people in other parts of California ? To make it easier for people to find classes, we have divided California into four general regions. The search feature allows people to choose "entire state" or other regions if they want to view other classes and choose to travel.
(6) Who is the Sponsor? The name of the organization that is handling registrations for the class should be listed here.
(7) What if we don’t know who the instructor of the class will be? Don’t worry about it. Leave the field blank.
(8) Can I list support groups or divorce recovery groups on this website? No. At present, the clearinghouse is for ME/RST courses for which the facilitator/instructor follows a prescribed, written curriculum.
(9) What if I submit information that gets posted and needs to be changed or updated? Contact the CHMC Web Team, state the name and date of the class, class location and what the specific change is that needs to be made.
(10) What is the Outcome Evaluation Project? CHMC measures the comparative effectiveness of ME classes in California by administering surveys at the start, end, 30 days after, and six months after ME courses. The surveys measure marital satisfaction, communication skills, and conflict resolution skills. By signing up for this project, you will receive everything you need to administer these surveys in your classes, and CHMC will take care of the rest. By the way, all surveys are confidential.
(11) Why should I participate in Outcome Evaluation? Four reasons really: (1) participate in the first broad, statewide evaluation of Marriage Education programs, (2) find out which Marriage Education curricula are most effective for which couples, (3) compare the effectiveness of YOUR Marriage Education program to others statewide, and (4) couples in your classes are entered to win great prizes by simply participating in your Outcome Evaluation.
(12) What if I have questions on the form or need to make changes to my listing after it is posted? Contact Jody by email (jody@camarriage.com) and she will answer your questions, make the changes, and provider clarity on issues related to the Class Listing Form.
